When you update an app from Google Play , the whole app doesn’t gets downloaded, the only the part that needs to be updated, that part is downloaded.
You will see, while updating an app, your notification bar percentage and the on screen percentage on google play that denotes how much is completed, always vary.
While the notification bar shows you the actual percentage of the download, the on screen percentage is the part of the file that is downloaded.
So it’s really beneficial to update apps only from Google Play! It saves data!
Think that you have a 20 MB app, and the update is of 7/8 MB, then you will save More than 10 MB per download. But from other sources, it will consume More data!

Also Google Play tests an app before releasing it publicly. So it’s trustworthy and virus Free.
So, always update apps from Google Play, not from anywhere else!
